PROJECT SHE

Bring-in the Love Bring-out the Smiles

In celebration of Women’s Month, Project S.H.E.: Breaking the Silence on PCOS was implemented as a comprehensive health awareness initiative dedicated to empowering young girls through education and safe dialogue. Hosted by the Rotaract Club of San Juan East in collaboration with a multi-club coalition. By creating a safe space for open discussion led by professional advocates, the initiative successfully worked to reduce social stigma while promoting proactive health management for young women.

The program featured interactive sessions covering critical topics such as PCOS awareness, nutrition, mental health, and body awareness. To provide a practical starting point for monitoring their well-being, participants underwent basic health assessments—including height, weight, BMI, and blood pressure—facilitated by student nurse volunteers. These measurements were recorded on personal vitals cards, giving the participants a simple yet effective tool for understanding their own health baselines under professional guidance.

To ensure the long-term sustainability of the project's impact, every participant received a "Women’s Health Tote Kit" filled with essential resources like period trackers, vitamins, and educational brochures. These materials serve as permanent references to reinforce learning and encourage healthier lifestyle choices beyond the event. By fostering these early conversations and strengthening the bond between the hosting and partner Rotaract clubs, the project established a foundation for future health-focused initiatives and a community culture of informed health management.
